A Pagan’s Perspective
This is not going to be your typical blog on Paganism. I wanted to start a blog on natural spirituality and what it means to me and in so doing; others would feel a similar connection and learn for themselves, how beautifull it is to become one with nature.
There are many aspects of being a pagan. There are many definitions of paganism. “A country dweller,” Was one traditional belief. But in this day and age my definition is “A follower of the old ways and “A connector to nature.”
So, because you love nature does that make you a pagan? No. Of course not.
While being a conduit to nature is a big part, there are other aspects like the belief of the Goddess and Gods. The use of magick and spell craft. The afterlife. Tarot cards etc. I will try to explore these and other parts of being a pagan.
I wanted to start this blog with this story. There are days I would be making my way home and suddenly, come to stop. I was exhausted from the heavy labor I did and my heart skipped a beat as my eyes locked on the scene before me. My breath hitched. Massive canopy of trees was before like a tunnel. How beautiful they where. The variation of coloring in the trunk and how massive the branches where. The many bright colored leaves that made music in the wind.
Before I know it, My hand is reaching out to find the bolivard trees and as my fingers brushed the bark. Images, fill my mind of seasons and people hurrying along to where they need to go. I know the tree is showing me, her views.
I know that alot of people don’t believe that trees can talk. I say.. why? Trees and plants are living being. Any living life force, expresses their pleasure and pain.
It is up to us, to find that connection. A Dog will let you know its hungry, so will a plant. It’s leaves will go yellow and wilt. But that is not what am talking about.
No words are needed. Yet plants and trees; speak. It is up to us to make that connection and see with our minds what plants have to say. That’s right they speak with images and can send you sensations.
Next time you are around a tree you like, put your back against it, or simply place your hands on its trunk. Close your eyes. Breath in and out. Focus on your third eye in the middle of your head between your ears and slightly up and behind your eyes. What do you see? What do you feel?
Enjoy the sensation of being connected with a living being. Have a conversation. Ask questions and wait for a reply. When you are ready. Thank the tree for the connection and wish it well. Don’t be discouraged, if you don’t see anything right away within, perhaps it about feelings instead of images. Explore all the senses. Some people take longer to find that connection.
Lets say if you have made that connection. Not only have you made a connection to a tree but everything that grows is possible to connect to.
A connection, a tree makes is by its roots that are planted in soil and therefore is connected to every living thing on mother earth.
You can explore many of these connections. In future I will talk more about possible connections, you can make. Including growing your own roots.
So what does this have to do with paganism. As a pagan, I consider myself, natures child. A part of the circle of life, I can make these connections anytime I wish. I hope you would as well like to learn.
There are ways to improve on our internal listening skills and how to clean our antennas so we are able to listen.
Which brings me to next week’s blog. I will talk about cleaning your antennas so we can listen better and around my work there is a large grove of Pine trees. Often when I go out, I can hear the sounds of Red tail hawks, who seemed to love hanging in this forest. By the way, how would you like to fly like a hawk?
Have a beautiful week and as I learn more about blogging I will add more.
If there is a topic you like to ask about. Go ahead and leave me a message.
